Art work by Stephen Rea

My first works were exact reproductions, inspired by The Impressionists, Turner, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, De Vinci, Vermeer and Tom Keating.

I sold my first commissionde piece in 1980- "Quiet Evening" by Spolaar. A 2ft x 3ft oil on canvas using the exact technique of the  original artist.

I moved to Angelsea in Wales where I was invited to join D.A.I. Studios, a working gallery in Caernarfon.

The gallaery owner David Williams(a very talented and sccessful artist in Wales) belived I had potential to become an accomplished watercolour artist and encouraged me to experiment within this field.

"Penumbra" The continuing battle between light and dark.

I began to play with different techniques, and making a lot of mistakes along the way.
